An honest official
March 20, 2008
Not too common these days to find a politician or official who will be blunt and honest. So some props go to Mr. Frank Young, emergency management director in Warren County, OH, who in this story shows some refreshing and surprising directness – if you see a sign that says "road closed, high water," and you drive right into it, you are in fact a stupid person. There are far too many stupid people who cause rescue workers all sorts of hassles in situations like this, and my position is that they should be the lowest priority. I certainly think it’s sad when people die, but somehow when I hear it’s because of their stupidity I feel a little less sad. Now we all make mistakes, but I certainly think driving into a flooded road after seeing a sign saying it was closed will not be one of mine.
